Artist Statement & Reviews
Like many artists, the way that I experience and try to understand my world is filtered through my work. As a child I sought refuge in my imagination, nature, story and the making of things. There I found a place where my curiosity was rewarded as I explored, altered or suspended reality.
As an adult I still have the need to retreat to a discreet place that is my own, where I can imagine, invent, create and learn. The things that I make are footnotes to the process, a sum of parts that intersect through a circuitous route of ideas and influences. Emotions and Intellect coalesce in an amalgam of experiences: childish excitement, curiosity aroused and sated, failures and accomplishments.
